The City of Ketchum has formally addressed five locations which were identified by the City as locations acceptable for the site of a farmers’ market. Because of support from the community and patrons of the Ketchum farmers’ market, Fourth Street between East Avenue and Walnut Avenue was chosen as a location suitable to the City. The Wood River Farmers’ Market Association favors the Fourth Street site due to our long-standing presence on this block. The 2015 markets will remain in that location. However we are not sure about the fees that the city administration will charge.

Here are links to an article and an editorial that appeared in the media on April 10 and 15 about the latest developments:

Here is the Press Release issued by the Chairman of the Wood River Farmers’ Market, Monday morning February 9:

PRESS RELEASE Feb 9

The Wood River Farmers’ Market Association is encouraged by the recent communications of the City of Ketchum indicating their desire to allow our association to determine the location for the Ketchum farmers’ market this coming summer, including our past location on Fourth Street.

At our last meeting, three alternative locations for the farmers’ market were presented by the City:

 1st Avenue between Sun Valley Road and 4th Street

 Around the LDS Church, pending their approval

 1st Avenue between 5th Street and 6th Street

Representatives from the Wood River Farmers’ Market Association are meeting to evaluate the viability of these locations and will meet again with City officials next week.

The ongoing dialogue between the City of Ketchum and the Wood River Farmers’ Market Association is imperative in order to identify concerns raised by local businesses, City agencies, and individuals regarding the impacts of the market operations.

We understand that we are guests in the streets of Ketchum and would like to make efforts to accommodate any concern.

We would like to thank the community for their support of the Ketchum farmers’ market. The public comments have been vital in our efforts to remain on Fourth Street.

The Wood River Farmers’ Market Association is a collection of vendors comprised of farmers, ranchers, artisans, and food vendors from Southern Idaho, who meet weekly throughout the eighteen-week summer season in order to provide access to locally made and grown goods. 65 vendors are represented by the association. Weekly farmers’ markets occur in Ketchum and Hailey and have been part of the Wood River Valley’s summer events for over fifteen years.
