The farm is a one-acre cornucopia of vegetables, including lettuce, tomatoes, squash, pea shoots, kale, Swiss chard, spinach, carrots, and radishes, plus a small house for our family of four. They have been growing delectable vegetables for ten years, and have cultivated their soil by enriching it with organic compost. Shooting star Farm has never applied a single chemical to the soil or plants; nor any pesticides, herbicides, or insecticides. Simply sun, soil, seed, water and hands; the way food was meant to be grown.
They are particularly known for their delicious greens Kale seems to be a particular favorite of local restaurants and an enviable variety of tomatoes. The local chefs and Farmers’ Market customers eagerly await our first crop. The cool nights at 5400 feet ensure that our lettuce is mild and tasty all summer, and our greenhouses made from reclaimed lumber harbor our flavorful tomatoes.
Dan and Carol hope you will enjoy their vegetables as much as they enjoy growing them.

August!
With the heat and sunshine comes a cornucopia of items for sale at the market. A lot of fruit is showing up – peaches, nectarines, plums, apricots, several different kinds of raspberries & much more. Also look for more vendors carrying varieties of potatoes and onions. As always many of our vendors carry many kinds of hand crafted food creation and ready to eat items.

Search about a bit more, we find if you are a regular visitor to the market you tend to seek out what is familiar and may pass by or overlook some stands that carry something unique you may be interested in. Ask your favorite vendor who they buy items from at the market, they may be able to give you the inside scoop!

Music This Week:
In Ketchum on Tuesday The Mighty Shims are back. Always a favorite – we are happy to have Fletcher Brock, Jim Paisley & Chip Booth with their mix of Americana ranging from 30′s swing to folk, contemporary ballads to pop interpretations with some blues and a collection of originals. Look for them at the entrance to the market and have a listen.

In Hailey on Thursday No Cheap Horses showcase their roots of outlaw country, folk, rock, blues, gospel & bluegrass. Featuring Mia Edsall on vocals, rhythm guitar, banjo, harp, percussion, Gerard Kelly on vocals, lead guitar, resonator slide guitar, Stacey Tuel on guitar, vocals, and Jason Vontver on tenor vocal harmony, and drums.

It is the perfect time to to take advantage of some afternoon time at the markets, enjoy some music, visit with friends old & new and stock up on the bounty of regional produce. Don’t forget that Ketch ‘Em Alive has their music series every Tuesday night at Forest Service park. Always fun, always free. Pick up a picnic at the market and head on over.

This Weeks Music

Mr. Cappi – Tuesday in Ketchum
Mr. Cappi comes to us from Twin Falls. He is entertaining and multi-talented playing a wide variety of instruments and interacting with both kids and adults as he engages folks to pick up an instrument and play along. You will most likely be familiar with many of Mr. Cappi’s songs as you join in the fun of singing and playing symbols, drums, bells, blocks and more.

Mia Edsall and Stacy Lee – Thursday in Hailey
Mia Edsall and Stacey Lee play folksy Americana music, from original tunes, old-time traditionals, gospel, and country songs. Their vocal harmonies, banjo and guitar picking echo with the lonesome sounds of porch music, mountain songs, and backwoods churches of days past.
