This is a great month to take advantage of shopping at the market, there is a very large variety of fruits & vegetables available & all the artists & crafts vendors have some incredible products for sale. Early Christmas shopping anyone?

Also, now is the time to consider some food preservation projects – canning, drying, jams & jellies, salsas. Speak with your favorite vendors about advice on different ways to preserve some of cornucopia of summer as well as which items they have in quantity to save for later.

This Tuesday in Ketchum we are excited to have back Brooke Hovey from Glow Live Food Cafe. She will will be preparing and sampling some delicious raw food from the market produce, including live vegan street tacos, Hagerman corn and red pepper tortillas with a spicy sprouted seed “beans”, guacamole, salsa, macadamia sour cream and Shooting Star Farm greens.

Also, with the success of last weeks bouncy house in Ketchum, we are happy to have it again this week but it will be in Hailey on Thursday instead. Bring the kids, there is no charge!

Rebecca Cox – Ketchum / Tuesday Aug 2

Rebecca Cox  is a local singer who performs an eclectic mix of acoustic light rock. She was raised in a very musical family and started singing publicly at age 3. Rebecca was involved in musical theater and also had a band that performed at various venues while she lived with her family in Germany for her teen years. She now lives in the Valley with her husband and son and participates in many musical events.

Penny Hens – Hailey / Thursday Aug 4
The Penny Hens are two farm-loving, boot-stomping, harmony-singing girls who play honest, down-to-earth Americana music.  We sing our own original songs, old time traditionals, a little country, a little gospel, and a lot of close harmony.  We play our songs on whatever we pick up:  guitars, ukulele, harmonica, washboard, tambourine, even the occasional wooden plank.  Uncle Poncho says we remind him of an old riverboat–we’re carrying the American experience downriver.  Please come join us for some fun loving music this Thursday in Hailey.

Live Music this week in Ketchum is by All Night Diner - this is a large band with an excellent range of styles & we are very excited to have them back. Featuring Craig Meyers on guitar and vocals, Ned Wheeler also on guitar and vocals, Brad Pearson on bass and vocals, Jason Vontver on percussion, Heidi Hogan and Cindy Solvang on vocals.	Mr. Cappi comes to us from Twin Falls. He is entertaining and multi-talented playing a wide variety of instruments and interacting with both kids and adults as he engages folks to pick up an instrument and play along. You will most likely be familiar with many of Mr. Cappi's folksy songs and he will encourage you to join in the fun of singing and playing symbols, drums, bells, blocks and more.

Someone flipped the switch pouring sunshine, music & lots of smiling face into the valley. Now, as we hit stride into the heart of summer the markets become a great local focusing point for many local activities.

Live Music this week in Ketchum is by All Night Diner - this is a large band with an excellent range of styles & we are very excited to have them back. Fronted by singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Travis Ward, Hillfolk Noir has been described as a dark, country-tinged, swampy-swingin', hillbilly-delta-blues-ragtime word machine. The band calls it Junkerdash, but no matter the descriptor, you'll find Hillfolk Noir's psychedelic swamp-shack rags equally spooky and toe-tapping. Hillfolk Noir has toured nationally and performed with James McMurtry, Built to Spill, Bonnie "Prince" Billy, Elephant Revival, Neko Case, Justin Townes Earle, Deer Tick, Gourds, Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band, Gerald Collier, Heroes and Villains, Train, Jesse Dayton, The Dusty 45s, Neva Dinova and others. Their unique roots gumbo has broad appeal, as evidenced by the disparate gigs they have played at everything from hipster clubs to square dances to folk music festivals.music.

Early season vegetables include Salad greens, kale, spinach, radishes, garlic, berries, asparagus, fresh eggs, herbs, head lettuce & swiss chard. All of our prepared food vendors will be there offering sauces, jams & jellies, baked goods, BBQ, Tacos & much more!

Over the course of the season we will be introducing our vendors, sharing recipes, tips & tricks for your garden and helping you get the most from your local markets. Check back often & we will see you at the market!
